JOKER - the origin of the Character

The Joker is the character who needs no Introduction. Everybody knows him. the famous antagaonist to the Batman who is actually the first villian i saw who gave the hero a really tough time. I mean, normally a villian is the guy who gives a bad time and then he goes down. with the Joker, the hero is in for a roller coaster ride , he does not know what he is going to get next. He is one of the most cunning ,canniving villans ever
created. His smile, his broad is the highlight of his character which is actually a fragment of the creation he is. But
ever wonder where did the inspiration for this character come from.

Imagine the mentality of the Joker. the eternal canniving, soul snatching diminishing person you would ever meet. The darkest of souls with that hideous smile. It just seems to you that he was born that way. Evil runs in his bloodline for generations, pure evil as it sees no good. Why would a person be born that way ? There would be no goodness in a person, not even a trace of it,you wonder ? Lets take you back in time to 1928 where we have the release of the movie called "The Man who Laughs" . The man who laughs is the movie that revolves around the central character Gywnplaine whose father offends the king, and the punishment is that Gywnplaine face is carved into a permanent grin. This deformation becomes a curse for the boy who has to live a life of tragedy experiencing the ridicule of the people for his look, and has to live a life through plays showing his disfigurement to earn money. He is only loved
by dea, a girl who is blind and he loves her too. she is the only one who loves him. following a series of events, the movie ends in them both escaping on a ship, where Dea dies at sea and Gwnplaine drowns himself....
Moving back to the present , we come to Christopher Nolans movie " The Dark Knight " that talks about the joker again in a very pivotal role . Here again during the movie we get a glimpse of the Joker and his earlier troubled life, where his father in a fit of drunken rage, with a penknife cuts his cheeks off, bringing the same grin to his face. Now, this is Gywnplaine born again in a new time going through the same suffering, the same pain and anger . Only this time there is a change. The Joker decides not to go the tragic way, he burns in anger and he wants to spread his anger all over, he hates because that is what he has learned - the ridicule and the scorn of a thousand faces. so that same evil that is injected in his blood is now going to grow in disastrous propotions. hate becomes him, his nature. His aim is to seek and destroy. he robs, murders, rapes, blows things away. He becomes the evil,grin-face Villain and he finds out that he gets more respect as the evil character than he does as the good guy on the road. Frank, hard facts of life.

The Dark Knights enlights us with a criminal who robs a big red ruby and gives to a child  to play with it, a ruby costing millions and the famous dialogue " Some men like to watch the world Burn" . Yes, thats right.  Can you imagine the horror of what Gywnplaine may have gone through . Can you imagine the problems a person goes through when a
hundred people laugh and mock him and  he has to go through it everyday,  for no fault of his own. can you imagine how frustrated he gets, the anger that builds in, and the black dark image that builds up in his mind . Pure concentrated evil is born, because it is not born, but bred  - probably not in a single life time but from generations. This is how the Joker the character is born, from the collective hatred of society and  as it is said " we have to give back to society  what Society gives us " - whether it is good or bad .
